Reporter Reveals Her Crew Was Robbed In San Francisco While Covering City’s Rampant Crime

While covering the city’s escalating violence, a CNN crew was mugged in San Francisco.

On Friday, CNN journalist Kyung Lah shared on Twitter how their rental car had been damaged when they were visiting City Hall for an interview.

“Got robbed. Again. CNN producer Jason Kravarik] & I were at city hall in San Francisco to do an interview for @CNN. We had security watch our rental car + crew car. Thieves did this in under 4 seconds. Security stopped the jerks from stealing other bags. But seriously- this is ridiculous.”

According to Lah, their hired security guard attempted to apprehend the thieves. Unfortunately, they got away but the guards managed to take a photograph of the getaway car’s license plate. She also expressed gratitude to the San Francisco Police for their quick response.

“To the jerks who stole our stuff— I hope someone on this site sees your plate and you get caught,” Lah continued.

“San Francisco is a beautiful city. This is our 3rd day here and I’ve loved my time here. But if you do visit this city, know that even with hired security watching your car, it is not enough,” Lah tweeted while posting a video of their car’s broken rear window.

The CNN journalist was worried because her passport and ID were taken.

Lah advised travelers, quoting a TSA officer, “if you fly out of Oakland, know the gas stations are being hit around the airport. Teams here in Oakland say passengers show up crying because their bags are all stolen, all in seconds.”

Later, she supplied an update, saying that Kravarik’s luggage was “still missing.” but hers had been found.

If the second robbery Lah mentioned in her Twitter thread also occurred in San Francisco is unknown.
