ESPN Soccer Analyst Collapses In Terrifying Scene During Live Broadcast

ESPN soccer analyst Shaka Hislop is in the process of recuperating following an incident during a live broadcast on Sunday night that caused concern. While discussing AC Milan’s friendly with Real Madrid at the Rose Bowl, the former goalie suddenly collapsed towards his co-host Dan Thomas.

An alarmed Thomas urgently called for medical assistance, saying, “Shak! Shak! We need some help. We need medical!”

As medical personnel attended to the 54-year-old Shaka Hislop, the broadcast swiftly transitioned to a commercial break. Following the kickoff, Dan Thomas tweeted that Hislop was conscious and receiving medical attention, and he later provided an encouraging update during halftime.

“My mate Shaka, not here, but as it stands, it’s good news. He’s conscious, he’s talking. I think he’s a little embarrassed about it all, he’s apologized profusely. Not a man who likes people to make a fuss of him. Obviously far too early to make any sort of diagnosis, but the important thing is, that Shaka’s conscious and we spoke to his family as well, because you imagine seeing that happen live. We spoke to his wife and things are looking OK.”

During his 15-year professional career, Shaka Hislop, who is a father of five with his wife Desha, participated in the Premier League as a player for Reading, Newcastle United, West Ham, and Portsmouth.

Additionally, he represented MLS’ FC Dallas during his career, which came to a close in 2007. His international endeavors saw him play for Trinidad and Tobago during the 2006 World Cup.

The London native joined ESPN’s coverage as an analyst in 2008 and is a contributor to ESPN FC.
