Burning Shopping Cart Used To Attack Police Headquarters

Officers of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) are accustomed to targeted assaults. They frequently put themselves in danger because they are responsible for guarding the second-largest metropolis in the nation. A hazardous weapon was recently used to attack a station.

On Thursday, April 6, a woman entered the Exposition Park LAPD station with a burning shopping cart. The lobby chairs, front doors, and ceiling all caught fire. After the incident, the suspect fled the building.

The following morning, law police released images of the building’s burned interior and declared the station permanently shuttered. The post exhorted locals to submit online reports. Anyone who needs to speak with a detective or police officer in person can do so by going to any nearby station.

Mishauna Eaton, 30, was detained by the LAPD on Friday afternnon for setting a structure on fire. On a $250,000 bail, she is being kept in custody.

The woman was detained at three in the morning, according to the Los Angeles Times. following the fire on grounds of possible arson. Patrol officers pulled up Eaton about four streets away from the police station, according to LAPD spokesperson Lt. Letisia Ruiz. 

According to reports, she was connected to the crime through surveillance footage. The official remained mum on the potential motivations of the alleged suspect. Thankfully, no one was hurt during the assault.

The most recent arson is not the first time a police precinct has been set on fire. A crowd gathered near the Third Precinct in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during the George Floyd demonstrations in 2020. Members of the group tossed Molotov cocktails at the structure, setting it ablaze and causing massive damage. For their roles in the arson, four defendants were later found guilty and given sentences in federal court.
