ALERT: Recall Issued for Ground Beef Shipped to Several States

Skyline Provisions, Inc., located in Harvey, Illinois, is issuing a recall for about 5,620 pounds of uncooked ground beef items due to potential contamination with a foreign object, as declared by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) today.

Produced and packaged on August 19, 2023, the recall pertains to the subsequent raw ground beef products.

  • 1. Cartons weighing 20 pounds, each containing four packages of “SKYLINE PROVISIONS, INC. GROUND BEEF 81/19” labeled with “ITEM # 000248.”
  • 2. Cartons weighing 20 pounds, each comprising four packages of “SKYLINE PROVISIONS, INC. GROUND BEEF 75/25” labeled with “ITEM # 000293.”

The recalled products display the establishment number “EST. 19300” within the USDA mark of inspection. These products were delivered to institutions in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin.

This discovery triggered a thorough examination of the affected product batch, as FSIS takes such reports seriously to ensure the safety and integrity of the food supply chain. The customer’s vigilance in reporting the issue played a crucial role in prompting the necessary actions to address and resolve the situation.

No verified cases of adverse reactions related to the consumption of these products have been reported. FSIS has not received any additional notifications of injury or illness associated with the consumption of these items. Those with concerns about potential injury or illness should reach out to a healthcare provider.

FSIS is expressing concern that certain products might be stored in institutional freezers. Institutions are strongly advised against serving these products and instead, should dispose of them or return them to the point of purchase.
